Maintain Managed Funds, This is BNI Asset Management's Step

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — In the midst of volatile market conditions in the first few months of this year, investment managers have launched a number of strategies to maintain their managed funds, aka asset under management (AUM). Based on data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the value of managed funds or asset under management (AUM) of industrial mutual fund products as of March 31, 2021 is in the position of IDR 564.87 trillion.

This realization decreased by 0.86 percent from the position at the end of the previous month, which was Rp. 570.79 trillion. Meanwhile, when compared to the position at the end of 2020, the AUM of the mutual fund industry was recorded to have shrunk by 1.34 percent from the level of Rp. 573.54 trillion. President Director of BNI Asset Management Putut Endro Andanawarih said that although the managed fund industry was slightly eroded, investors' desire to invest in mutual funds continued to grow.
"Based on the number of investors and the nominal investment in mutual fund selling agents in the stock asset class, it has actually increased and of course this number will also have an impact on growth in fixed income asset class mutual funds," he told Bisnis, Friday (11/9/2021)
In line with these conditions, Putut said that BNI AM focused on expanding distribution channels to APERD as well as to institutions that have portfolios and investment strategies into investment products in accordance with the risk profile of each investor. "Of course also by innovating new and alternative products in the capital market that suit the needs of investors," he added.
Putut further said, from the investor side, both retail investors and institutional investors are the company's priority at this time because they both have their own characteristics.
He explained that retail investors belong to the sticky category and have a long-term investment horizon, which of course with a diversified investment strategy and cost averaging will make their investment returns more optimal. "The rapid growth of retail customers makes the current mutual fund industry even more attractive considering the large number of retail customers will print growth in terms of income and the mutual fund industry AUM in the future," said Putut. Meanwhile for institutional customers, prayer sees the need for good cash management for specific products with various yield targets, of course, so that the needs for these products can be met.
