BNI AM Optimistic of AUM's Growth to Continue in 2021

JAKARTA, Investor.id -  BNI Asset Management (BNI AM) recorded a 15% growth in asset under management (AUM) to Rp 26.64 trillion by the end of October 2020. The company was able to record growth in managed funds, even though the Indonesian and global economies were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He believes that the growth in managed funds is expected to continue into next year, in line with expectations of a better economy and a more conducive capital market. Moreover, there are expectations of continued low-interest rates.

BNI Deputy President Director Adi Sulistyowati said BNI AM was still able to maintain its position in the list of 10 asset management companies in Indonesia with the largest managed funds reaching IDR 24.64 trillion as of October this year.

"BNI AM has still recorded 15% AUM growth since the beginning of 2020, inseparable from the support of investors and the synergy with BNI as the parent and all subsidiaries that are members of the BNI group," he said in a virtual webinar entitled "Market Outlook 2021" which was held by BNI AM.

Meanwhile, President Director of BNI Asset Management Putut Endro Andanawarih said that the majority of investors began to enter investment instruments and save their money in low-risk instruments such as deposits. "Indeed, we should as investors anticipate the future or dare to enter into risky instruments," he said.

He added that the current capital market is dominated by domestic retail investors who rose during the crisis. Thus, the prospect of market recovery could occur in the near future. On the other hand, investors are also advised to start putting their money into stock-based instruments, even though the index is still in a corrected position. The way that investors can do this is to slowly increase their share ownership.

Regarding the growth of BNI AM's managed funds next year, he said, his party is optimistic about continuing growth in 2021. However, he is not yet willing to reveal the details of next year's growth figures.
