BNI-AM Aims for IDR 1 Trillion from ESG ETF Products

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT BNI Asset Management (BNI-AM) has issued the latest exchange-traded fund (ETF), namely the BNI-AM ETF MSCI Leaders Indonesia (XBES). The mutual fund ETF is expected to raise managed funds of IDR 1 trillion.

President Director of BNl-AM, Reita Farianti, said that this mutual fund product was launched to provide investment options for investors who consider ESG (environment, social, and governance) aspects.

"We launched XBES to provide product variants for investors who want to optimize investment performance with an issuer's investment portfolio with good fundamentals and considering ESG aspects," said Reita Thursday (9/1).

Therefore, continued Reita, this product contains shares of companies that have the best ESG scores in their respective sectors. According to Reita, the issuance of this product is in line with the tendency of investors to start paying attention to the environmental and social impacts of investment.

Reita sees the ESG factor as a basis for making decisions for many investors, especially institutions, to determine the direction of their investment. On the other hand, Reita acknowledged that companies that can generate high and sustainable returns in the long term are companies that have good ESG management.

Reita explained that this product is the second ETF mutual fund issued by BNI-AM. Previously in 2018, the company had also issued the BNI-AM Nusantara ETF MSCI Indonesia Equity Index Mutual Fund (ticker: XBNI) and managed to raise managed funds of up to IDR 1 trillion.

This ESG ETF mutual fund has been listed and traded on the IDX starting today, Thursday (9/1). "This ETF can be easily searched because it is traded through the primary market and secondary market on the IDX," concluded Reita.
